Hello!

I'm Vianey Garcia!

My approach to design is simple: understand the user, be open to exploration, and cultivate meaningful experiences. I am a User Experience Designer, design thinker, researcher, and Los Angeles native who is inspired by the diversity and cultural identity of this city.

I am also a maker. I ground my design process in the sense of making that I cultivated in my inventive Mexican family. I grew up surrounded by different makers: designing piñatas, decorating pastries, and creating upcycled sculptures. Their ingenuity, determination, and versatility motivate me to follow in their footsteps by using my design skills to create moments of delight, solve problems, and enhance how people experience the world.

I take inspiration from my everyday life. Luckily, I live in a city rich with diversity and brimming with culture. I am passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion and believe that understanding different cultures and perspectives is crucial to building strong teams and is an essential aspect of designing successful products that work for a diverse pool of users.

I am passionate about creating beautiful and useful things for people at the intersection of technology, art, and storytelling. I bring a unique skill set to my work in User Experience Design with my B.A. in Studio Art and B.S. in Interaction Design. I am able to use the fundamentals of art and UX design principles to tell stories, solve problems, connect with people, and develop unexpected solutions.

My experience with augmented reality design allows me to explore UX by transcending the digital and physical realms. AR pushes me to engage users in new ways and new spaces. This was especially evident during my time as a Snap Lens Scholar at Snap Inc., where I created lenses that garnered over 70,000 shares.

I am responsible, organized, and communicative with excellent attention to detail. I am prepared to take on any challenge, regardless of the level of complexity, as I constantly expand my skill set and thrive on the continual acquisition of knowledge. I approach projects iteratively, utilizing playful minimalism to explore, cultivate relationships, and create meaningful experiences.
